CULTURAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ITALY
The Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the Republic of Italy, desirous of strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries and of promoting rec iprocal knowledge and understanding through the development of their cultural relations, have agreed as follows:
ARTICLE 1
Each of the two governments shall promote the study of the national language, literature and culture of the other country in order to allow its own people to benefit the most from the cultural patrimony of the said country.
ARTICLE 2
The two governments shall promote cooperation and exchanges in cultural fields among their respective educational and cultural institutions such as universities, colleges, national cultural organizations and academies.
ARTICLE 3
The two governments shall encourage and facilitate the exchange of books, publications, films, cassettes and records in the literary, artistic, cultural, musical and educational fields.
ARTICLE 4
The two governments shall facilitate the organization, in their own territory, of exhibitions and manifestations pertaining to the cultural and artistic life of each country.
ARTICLE 5
The two governments shall facilitate exchange and cooperation among the students and student organizations of the two countries.
ARTICLE 6
The two governments shall facilirate the granting of scholarships for university studies or for specialization courses, subject to existing policies of admission and retention in each country.
ARTICLE 7
This Agreement shall enter into force as soon as the contracting parties have informed each other that their domestic requirements for such entry into force have been fulfilled, and shall remain in force indefinitely, unless terminated by either contracting party through a six-month prior written notice.
Done at ROME on 17 JUNE 1988 in two copies, in the English and Italian languages, both texts being equally authentic.
