AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE ARGENTINE REPUBLIC ON THE WAIVER OF VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR HOLDERS OF DIPLOMATIC AND OFFICIAL PASSPORTS
The Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the Argentine Republic hereinafter referred to as "the Parties":
Desirous of entering into an agreement for the further enhancement of their bilateral relations,
Have agreed as follows:
ARTICLE I
Citizens of either state who are holders of valid diplomatic and official passports are exempted from the obligation to obtain visas for entry and stay in the territory of the other state, if such a stay does not exceed sixty (60) days or when transiting through that territory, on their way to a third state.
ARTICLE II
Holders of diplomatic and official passports of both states appointed to work in diplomatic missions and consular offices in the receiving state may enter and stay there without visa for a period of sixty (60) days, during which time they should obtain the necessary documentation and authorization from the competent authorities of the receiving state.
ARTICLE III
. The provisions of this Agreement shall also apply to members of the family of the persons mentioned in Articles I and II of this Agreement provided that such members of the family are also holders of diplomatic or official passports.
ARTICLE IV
Both Parties shall proceed to an exchange, through diplomatic channels, of their respective valid passport specimens within thirty (30) days after the signing of this Agreement. The Parties shall inform each other about the introduction of new types and classification of passports, as well as any change or modification to those currently in use and shall furnish relevant specimens within thirty (30) days prior to their use.
ARTICLE V
Notwithstandng the exemption from obtaining entry visas under this Agreement, it is the duty of persons benefitting therefrom to comply with the laws and regulations, of the receiving state regarding entry to, stay in and exit from the receiving state.
ARTICLE VI
Both Parties reserve the right to refuse admission to persons designated as undesirable or considered likely to endanger the public peace, public order, public health, or national security.
ARTICLE VII
Either state may, for reasons of public order, security or health, temporarily suspend in whole or in part, the implementation of this Agreement. Such a suspension and the lifting of the suspension shall be notified through diplomatic channels to the other Party at least seven (7) days prior to their effectivity.
ARTICLE VIII
This Agreement shall take effect on the date of the later notification by the Parties, through diplomatic channels, indicating compliance with the domestic requirements for its entry into force.
Any amendment or revision to this Agreement shall be done by mutual consent of the Parties. These amendments or revisions shall enter into force in accordance with paragraph 1 of this Article.
This Agreement shall remain in full force and effect unless one Party officially notifies the other Party, through diplomatic channels, of its desire to suspend or terminate this Agreement. In such a case, this agreement shall remain valid until ninety (90) days after the date on which one Party receives an official notification from the other Party expressing the desire of the latter to suspend or terminate the validity of this Agreement.
DONE at Buenos Aires, Argentina on this 20th day of September nineteen hundred and ninety nine in the English and Spanish languages, both versions being equally authentic.
