MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE GOVERNMENT OF MACAU CONCERNING TOURISM COOPERATION
DESIRING to strengthen the friendly relations and mutual understanding existing between their respective territories;
RECOGNIZING their common interest to establish greater cooperation in the
area of tourism;
Have agreed as follows:
ARTICLE I
The Contracting Parties shall, subject to the laws and regulations of their respective territories, develop and promote cooperation in the field of tourism on the basis of reciprocity and mutual benefit.
ARTICLE II
The Contracting Parties shall encourage and promote individual or group travel by their respective nationals and nationals of third countries to each other's territory.
ARTICLE III
The Contracting Parties shall encourage the exchange of visits between their appropriate personnel and professional experts on tourism and the exchange of information materials and experiences on tourism matters.
ARTICLE IV
The Contracting Parties shall encourage pertinent tourism-related establishments, particularly travel agencies and similar institutions, of two territories to establish business contacts and to exchange experiences and other relevant information.
ARTICLE V
The Contracting Parties shall explore the possibility of investment collaboration in their respective tourism sectors and shall accordingly inform each other of the investment climate and conditions provided by their respective legislation.
ARTICLE VI
For purpose of implementing this Agreement, the following agencies are designated:
For the Government of the Republic of the Philippines, the Department of Tourism;
For the Government of Macau, the Macau Government Tourist Office.
ARTICLE VII
The Contracting Parties shall, when necessary, meet alternately in the two territories, to assess the implementation of this Memorandum and to sign the appropriate protocols, if necessary.
ARTICLE VIII
In conformity with their respective laws, each Contracting Party shall facilitate the establishment in its territory of the tourism representative office of the other Contracting Party to encourage the travels of their citizens to each other's territory.
ARTICLE IX
This Memorandum of Understanding shall enter into force on the date of the later notification by the Contracting Parties that they have complied with their respective domestic requirements for its entry into force.
The Memorandum of Understanding shall remain valid unless terminated by either Contacting Party by written notice, through the diplomatic channels, of its intention to terminate six (6) months prior to the intended date of termination.
