AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC ON THE WAIVER OF VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR HOLDERS OF DIPLOMATIC OR OFFICIAL PASSPORTS OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND FOR HOLDERS OF DIPLOMATIC OR SERVICE PASSPORTS OF THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC

The Government of the Republic of the Philippines and The Government of the Slovak Republic

(Hereinafter referred to as the "Contracting Parties"), desiring to improve development and cooperation between the two countries and in order to facilitate the travel of their nationals,

HAVE AGREED AS FOLLOWS:

ARTICLE 1

(1) The citizens of the Slovak Republic holding valid diplomatic or service passports and are not accredited in the Republic of the Philippines shall be allowed to enter and stay in the territory of the Republic of the Philippines and to transit and exit from it through the designated international border crossings without any visa for a period not exceeding fifty-nine (59) days from the day of arrival.

(2) The citizens of the Republic of the Philippines holding valid diplomatic or official passports and are not accredited in the Slovak Republic shall be allowed to enter into, exit from, transit and stay in the territory of the Slovak Republic through the designated international border crossings without any visa for a period not exceeding fifty-nine (59) days from the day of arrival.

ARTICLE 2

(1) The citizens of the Slovak Republic holding valid diplomatic or service passports and the citizens of the Republic of the Philippines holding valid diplomatic or official passports who are members of diplomatic missions, consular offices or international organizations with headquarters in the territory of State of the other Contracting Party shall be allowed to enter the territory of State of the other Contracting Party and to stay there without any visa while performing their duties.

(2) The same rules shall apply to family members, provided however that they share with them the same household and are holders of valid diplomatic or service passports holders of the Slovak Republic and valid diplomatic or official passports of the Republic of the Philippines.

ARTICLE 3

The Contracting Parties shall exchange, through the diplomatic channels, the samples of valid passports not later than thirty (30) days prior to the enforcement of this Agreement. Any changes in the passports shall be communicated to the other Contracting Party in writing not later than thirty (30) days before making the changes.

ARTICLE 4

Holders of diplomatic or service passports of the Slovak Republic and holders of diplomatic or official passports of the Republic of the Philippines shall have to observe legislation regulating the entrance into, stay and exit from the territory of State of the other Contracting Party.

ARTICLE 5

For reasons of public order, safety or health of the citizens, either Contracting Party may, entirely or partially, suspend the application of this Agreement. The Contracting Parties shall notify one another on such suspension and resumption through the diplomatic channels without any delay.

ARTICLE 6

Each Contracting Party shall reserve the right to deny entry or prohibit the stay, within its territory, to the citizens whom they shall consider unacceptable.

ARTICLE 7

This Agreement may be changed or amended after mutual agreement of the Contracting Parties. All changes and amendments shall be made in writing through diplomatic channels, and shall enter into force in accordance with Article 8, paragraph 1.

ARTICLE 8

(1) This Agreement is concluded for an indefinite period and shall enter into force thirty (30) days after the day of receipt of the latter notification in which the Contracting Parties notify one another that the conditions for enforcement of the Agreement stipulated by the national legislation have been met.

(2) Either Contracting Party may terminate this Agreement by written notification through the diplomatic channels. Such termination shall enter into force thirty (30) days after the receipt of notification on termination by the other Contracting Party.

Done at Pasay City on 5 September 2001 in two original copies in the Slovak and English languages, both texts being equally authentic.
