PROCLAMATION NO. 502 RENAMING THE COUNCIL OF STATE ROOM, KALAYAAN HALL, MALACA脩ANG PALACE AS THE ELPIDIO QUIRINO ROOM
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2 dated May 6, 1998 by the National Historical Institute and Presidential Decree No. 260 dated August 1, 1973, declared Malaca帽ang Palace a National Historical Landmark;
WHEREAS, every past administration in the country reflects a particular period in our nation鈥檚 rich history; and
WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that Malaca帽ang Palace, residence and the office of the President of the Philippines should recognize and historic connection past presidents have with Malaca帽ang Palace.
NOW, THEREFORE , I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by law, do hereby rename the Council of State Room, Kalayaan Hall, Malaca帽ang Palace, as the Quirino Room, in recognition of the historic value of the room in which President Elpidio Quirino took his first oath of office on April 17, 1948, thereby serving as a tangible reminder of President Elpidio Quirino鈥檚 service to the nation.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
