PROCLAMATION NO. 1043
WHEREAS, Thursday, April 27, 2006, marks the 485th anniversary of the Battle of Mactan, which has been described now as the "KADAUGAN SA MACTAN", a cultural and historical event for the City of Lapu-Lapu;
WHEREAS, the Battle of Mactan is among the significant events in Philippine history and serves as testimony to the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Filipinos; and
WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the residents of the City of Lapu-Lapu be given full opportunity to celebrate this historic event with appropriate ceremonies.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency,
GLORIA MACAPAGAL – ARROYO, do hereby declare Thursday, April 27, 2006, as special (non-working) day in the City of Lapu-Lapu.
